FAQ's

We want you to feel good about ordering from us and to be knowledgeable about the entire process. Please read answers to the most common questions we receive. As always, we strive to exceed expections throughout your entire experience with us – that often starts with being well informed.

No, we only sell and ship to customers located in the US

We do NOT allow customers to arrange their own shipping.  We use our own shipping network and maintain shipping insurance protection on all shipments for our customers.  If something were to damage your shutters during shipment, we want to be 100% sure you are protected.

All of your shutters will be hand-made right here in the USA!  Once we receive your order, we’ll add it to our production queue for fabrication, assembly, and painting.  We opened a new, state-of-the-art production facility in Alpharetta, GA in late 2020 to meet the rapidly growing demands of our DIY homeowner customers.

Unfortunately, with the volume of orders we fulfill, adding an option for unique colors would alter our production process resulting in delays and increased costs to our customers.  One of our fundamental goals is to provide you the best shutters for the lowest prices.  As a result, we do not offer the option to select custom paint colors for direct-to-consumer orders at this time.

We use Sherwin Williams exterior flat paint for all our shutters and the Sherwin Williams paint color code / identifier is included on each color option you see during the ordering process.  Please visit your nearest Sherwin Williams store and they can provide color samples for all the color options we offer.

We manufacture 100% of our direct-to-consumer shutters using the Extira composite material.  We used to make shutters using wood, vinyl and other materials and found that the quality and longevity of the Extira material far exceeds those other materials – this results in happier customers.  We only want happy customers, so we now only use Extira for our direct-to-consumer shutters!

The answer to this question may vary, but almost all our customers agree that the painted Extira shutters match very closely to their existing wooden shutters.  While we would love for you to replace all your shutters with our beautiful, new shutters all at the same time, we also understand that often your budget only allows for the replace of a few window shutters at a time.  Feel confident that the new shutters will blend nicely with your older wooden shutters until you can replace them all with our shutters.

Using only Extira composite material and galvanized / stainless nails and screws during our production process means that your shutters are built to last!  We also use high quality exterior primer and paints to further protect your investment.

Yes, when you place an order, we include shipping insurance with each order that protects you and your investment from accidental damage that may occur during shipping.  If you suspect shipping damage, immediately contact us to initiate a claim.

Yes, we still utilize our distributor and builder networks for a significant number of shutter sales and installations.  If you are a builder and/or distributor and would like to sell our shutters, please contact us at inquiries@shakershutters.com or through our contact form and one of our dealer network agents will contact you to begin the discussion.

Your shutters do NOT ship with installation hardware.  There are so many ways to install shutters (fixed mount, operational shutters, etc.) and so many different home materials to mount them upon (vinyl, wood, composite, brick, etc.) that we recommend you purchase the appropriate installation hardware separately.  Currently, Shaker Shutters Superstore is not offering installation hardware for sale directly to its customers.

At this time, we do NOT sell installation hardware direct-to-consumer.  We encourage you to look for the best installation hardware unique to your installation (fixed v. operational, home siding material, etc.) and purchase from other retailers.

All of our shutters are sold in pairs, so we are not able to sell single shutters at this time.

There are a lot of factors that go into answering this question – number of shutters in your order, finish selection, etc.  Generally, we ship orders within 20 business days after receipt of your order.

This all depends on the height of the shutters.  As a general rule, if the shutters are greater than 50” in height, then your shutters will have two horizontal rail trim boards (not counting the top and bottom trim boards).  If they are less than 50” in height, they will most likely have a single horizontal rail trim board (not counting the top and bottom trim boards).  We strive to deliver the best-looking shutters available and will use the number of horizontal trim boards to achieve the best results and look.

If your shutters are less than 54” in height, we generally use 2 Crosscleats during construction.  If your shutters are greater than 54” in height, we generally use 3 Crosscleats during construction.

No, we only accept orders for which we have enough materials currently in stock to fill the order, in its entirety.  This policy prevents production backlogs and allows us to produce and deliver your order in a timely fashion.

Curb appeal and first impressions of a home are critical in how a potential buyer evaluates and values your home.  Adding new, high quality shutters adds to the curb appeal of a home and will directly help to add value and create a positive perception of the home.  Conversely, installing lower cost, vinyl / plastic shutters on your windows (or having no shutters at all) may leave potential buyers with the impression that your home was built with lower quality finishes thus creating the perception of lower value.

Here are some specific ways adding shutters will help increase your home’s value:

  1. Increase Appraisal Value of Your Home
If you’re trying to sell your home, adding shutters can make your home instantly more valuable. One reason for this is that high-quality shutters are classic and are liked by most buyers. shutters are custom-made for the windows, which means that the shutters will remain with the home once it’s sold. The other benefit of shutters is that they make a great first impression and might result in an offer much faster than a home that has more mundane or outdated window treatments.
  2. Update the Appearance of Your Home
Shutters give your home the custom look you’ve been waiting for. They are a smart investment, and they instantly increase the aesthetics and visual appearance of your home. Unlike most window treatments that can either be opened or closed, shutters offer a third option; shutters can be tilted up or down to allow light to filter through while still providing you with privacy.
  3. Energy-Efficient Window Treatments
Another great way shutters add value to your home is by being energy efficient. shutters are built for the exact dimensions of your windows. This helps to stabilize the temperature inside your home and throughout the changing of the seasons. Having energy-efficient window treatments keeps your overall cost of home ownership low by reducing your monthly energy bills.
  4. Low-Maintenance is a High Selling Point
Low-maintenance decorative touches are incredibly important for people looking to buy new homes. One of the best parts about Eclipse shutters is that they are very easy to keep clean and will look great for many years to come. Eclipse Shutters are the only shutters that have a 25-year warranty! Eclipse shutters are a simply beautiful addition to any home.
